Ruth Bishop

Teaching Fellow

Ruth is a Teaching Fellow in DREEAM, working mainly on teaching Clinical Skills to trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) undertaking the Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. This involves delivering lectures and overseeing the clinical skills practical sessions which include History Taking and Physical Examination.

Ruth is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) working in the Emergency Department (ED). She qualified in 2002 with a Masters of Nursing from Nottingham University. Her first job was a medical rotation which involved working on Respiratory and Gastroenterology wards before starting work in the ED in 2004. She worked on Medical High Dependency Unit for 2 years in 2009 as well as a short rotation to Intensive Treatment Unit. She also did some work abroad including a year in Sudan in 2005 with an aid organisation and more recently she was part of a group from NUH who went to Ethiopia where she was involved in training the ED staff in how to triage patients effectively. 

In 2015 she completed her ACP training, gaining an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice through Nottingham University and has continued to work in the ED since.

Ruth spends most of her spare time with friends and family. She likes being active and especially enjoys skiing and walking in the hills.
