The exciting one-day cannulation course for midwifery staff involves the taught theory of cannulation and a practical workshop. The day will include learning on: 

  • Anatomy & physiology
  • Consent
  • Local policy & procedure
  • Infection control
  • Cannulation equipment
  • Documentation 

A practical skills workshop will be undertaken to consolidate learnt theory and practice, giving participants time to practise their new skills on our simulation, mannequin arms under the supervision and guidance of our skilled senior interprofessional educator. Please be aware, after this course, you will be required to complete an online e-learning module and ten supervised cannulations within your own clinical setting, before being signed off as competent.

Faculty

Your course facilitator is senior interprofessional educator Kerry Laffan who teaches on many of our courses, including Cannulation, Venepuncture (Phlebotomy) and ECG.
