Course Overview

This new course will expand the clinical skills of medical and senior health professionals, enabling them to perform ultrasound guided cannulation in a clinical setting.

This course will teach participants how to use an ultrasound machine to identify vessels and the surrounding structures and how to advance a cannula into difficult veins under ultrasound guidance.  Therefore, improving patient experience and safety, whilst minimising complications and associated costs, by reducing the number of unsuccessful attempts in situations of difficult access.

Participants will be able to consolidate learnt theory and gain experience undertaking ultrasound guided cannulation in our interactive workshop, under supervision of our skilled, experienced DREEAM educators.

DREEAM recommends participants undertake a period of supervised practice in their clinical area before being deemed competent to practice independently.
