Dr Victoria Meighan

Dr Victoria Meighan is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) senior lecturer and TUH/TCD simulation clinical lead.

Dr Meighan is originally from Holywood, County Down and was a student of Methodist College Belfast (MCB) before undertaking her undergraduate medical training in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr Meighan completed her postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine in Ireland and has nine years of consultant experience. Dr Meighan gained clinical experience in Canada, New Zealand and Western Australia. Dr Meighan is a fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and has specialist interests in simulation based education, trauma care, ultrasound and humanitarian medicine. Dr Meighan has a master’s degree in simulation and patient safety and a diploma in child health. She has experience in simulation centres nationally and internationally (UK, Australia). She has been a postgraduate national simulation trainer at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and the College of Anaesthesiologists Ireland for over 10 years. Dr Meighan has several peer reviewed publications, drives innovative research on simulation education and is a PhD supervisor. Dr Meighan is a national Advanced Trauma Life Support Course Director and is the national Director of point of care ultrasound training for the Irish Committee for Emergency Medicine Training associated with the RCSI and for the Global Emergency Care skills (GECS) charity who travel annually to Africa.
