Welcome to Acute Medicine! You’re joining a busy and varied environment where high standards of care are paramount. Following your attendance of the NUH HCA academy, you’ll take part in a structured induction designed to support your transition into this fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Your induction will include a mixture of classroom-based education and supernumerary clinical shifts, giving you the opportunity to develop key skills in both theory and practice, covering the fundamentals of patient care.
Our aim is to build your confidence and competence while working alongside experienced team members who are here to guide and support you every step of the way.
Guidance
If you are new to NUH, you will get access to the trust rota system "Healthroster11" after you start. In the meantime, please follow the relevant timetables for the length of your induction until access has been given.

Once you have access, you will be able to download the new employee online app.
Uniform
You will receive your uniform request slip on you first day of induction in DREEAM. Please make the appointment ahead of time by calling the sewing room (ext. 83764 between the hours of 07:00-11:00 and 13:00-14:00 Monday-Friday) to organise an appointment for you fitting as there are very long waits for appointments. You will need your uniform slip to attend your fitting appointment so if you are able to get one prior to your welcome day please contact us so we can try to facilitate getting your slip early.
If you are a CSW or EDA, please ensure you attend the QMC Sewing Room and not the one at City as you will come away with the wrong uniform.
ID Cards
If you are new to NUH, please send a professional head shot photo to dreeam@nuh.nhs.uk so we can arrange for your ID to be ready on your first day in DREEAM.
If you are transferring from another NUH area, please e-mail dreeam@nuh.nhs.uk with your NUH ID card number so we can arrange for it to be updated and reprinted.
Yellow Name Badges
If you email us at dreeam@nuh.nhs.uk and let us know your preferred name and pronouns we will get these ordered for you e.g. Jo Blogs (He/Him)
Collection
We will try and have your cards ready for your first day, however where this is not possible please bring in photo ID (e.g. passport, driving licence) so you will be able to collect your NUH ID at a different time. Please note, you will not be able to collect your ID card until your first day.
Pre-employment final ID check
We have arranged for the HR team to attend on the Induction day, so that they can check and verify your ID documents, please ensure you bring them with you.
Identity document selection | Trac
You will have previously supplied HR with your 'Right to work’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents, please bring any evidence you have previously shown Recruitment via Tracs. Please note, you need to bring the original documents, HR cannot accept photocopies.
Pay & Contracts
You should have received a 'bank detail' form by email from NUH Recruitment to send to Pay Services. If you have been unable to return it, please bring it with you on your first day in DREEAM. Failure to complete this form may result in a delay in being paid.
Please also bring your signed contract on your first day in DREEAM.
