Welcome to the Children’s and Young Persons’ Emergency Department! You’re joining a busy and varied environment where high standards of care are paramount. Over the next four to six weeks, you’ll take part in a structured induction designed to support your transition into this fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Your induction will include a mixture of classroom-based education and supernumerary clinical shifts, giving you the opportunity to develop key emergency nursing skills in both theory and practice. You’ll focus on patient assessment, prioritisation, and escalation, alongside essential practical skills such as ECG recording, injury management, and medication administration.

Our aim is to build your confidence and competence while working alongside experienced team members who are here to guide and support you every step of the way.
