Over one million people each year suffer injuries to their heads which are severe enough that they need to go to hospital. Swelling in the brain can cause significant injury and there the clinical team on ICU will use a series of treatments to prevent the brain from swelling. If initial treatments do not work two different drugs are used. We do not know which one of these is best, and both can have unwanted side effects. It is the aim of the study to find out which one is more beneficial for patients.
