It is an exciting time to join our ED as a Foundation Nurse. You’ll be learning and working alongside our dedicated team of inter-professional educators, research nurses and the ED clinical staff. Joining the Emergency Department as a Foundation Nurse means that you start on the new foundation nurse induction programme. This starts with a 4 week/6 weeks induction that has been tailor made to fit the RCN National Curriculum & Competency Framework – Emergency Nursing Level 1.
Overview
What training will I receive?
Our Foundation Nurse programme is delivered within DREEAM. Our educators and clinicians will deliver teaching sessions and simulations throughout the induction and work alongside you on your clinical days. The aim of this is to encourage professional development and leadership skills with the opportunity of career progression within Emergency Medicine.
The programme starts with a 4-6 week induction which has been tailor made to fit the RCN National Curriculum & Competency Framework – Emergency Nursing Level 1
You will also be provided with an RCN Emergency Nurse – Level 1 Competency Portfolio to work through. You can download level 1 and 2 in the course materials tab below
You will be fully supported throughout your induction and training and it will be carried on throughout your career in the Emergency Department.
