Course Overview
This one day workshop combines the teachings of venepuncture and cannulation in one course, aimed at staff who need to learn both skills for their clinical practice but are unable to attend two separate workshops due to ongoing clinical need in their local areas.
In the morning session participants will benefit from learning the theory behind their new skills, consisting of teaching on:
- Anatomy & physiology
- Consent
- Local policy & procedure
- Infection Control & Hazards
- Equipment
- Documentation
In the afternoon practical workshop participants will benefit from being able to consolidate their learnt theory and gain experience practicing on our simulation mannequin arms, in a safe, controlled environment under the supervision and guidance of our skilled DREEAM course lead.
Who will benefit:
This one day course is aimed at Nurses, HCA’S, CSW’s, AHP’S, ACP’S, Medics, Physician Associates, GP’s, and Paramedics.

Start and finish times:
Registration at 08:00 | Start time at 08:30 | Finish time at 16:00 | Breaks built into the course timetable.
Refreshments:
Light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Please be aware after this course you will be required to complete online e-learning modules and ten supervised sign offs for each skill, within your own clinical setting.
Please ensure that your line manager and a clinical area can support your competency sign off before attending the course, as this can not be supported by DREEAM.
IMPORTANT: On completion of this workshop you will be required to have your competency assessed before independent practice. Please ensure your clinical area can support this process before booking, as DREEAM are unable to facilitate this, thank you.
